You know that Upstate fans will inevitably respond defensively to such comments and Midlands fans will do likewise. By continually injecting the same off-topic subject here with intentionally divisive spin, you are begging for this pointless city vs. You know this is not the forum to be discussing Greenville. Your facts don't seem to disprove the dream.

So, even though this is not a typical Anthropologie store, other factors such as free rent can be used to mitigate the shortcomings. I would question if Greenville has the demographics overall but, a newer smaller secondary market concept may be a good test. Second, the demographics are not present on Main St Greenville which would support this store. There is not a store close to this project that is typical of where Anthropologie clusters, yet, they are opening a small store. Since you are from Greenville, use Anthropologie as an example. But, the list of reasons that you provided are not always 100% necessary/true. Although there are some awesome storefronts, it will take a while.

If the small Apple campus store in the middle of USC couldn't stay open, there is no way Apple would take the risk of a full sized Apple retail store.Īgain, nice dream, but facts don't lend the dream any credibility.įirst, I will say that it is a longshot to land Apple on Main anytime soon. Other than Mast (a small 8 store regional chain), there is no retail to speak of on Main, and Mast is not a store with a shared Apple demographic. In fact, I would love to see a project similar in size to One somewhere along Assembly (Assembly & Gervais?) tying Main and the Vista together visually. Even then, I am not sure at this point it is the best place.īut, in time, I could see small mixed use project somewhere between The Vista & Main that maybe could house an Apple Store, assuming Columbiana does not get it first. I agree, I don't see an Apple store on Main unless it gets the perfect building for littlle or no rent. I don't think high end retailers are what's needed at this point in time. You'll get that money back through taxes you can collect on the businesses who benefit. I know certain times you don't have to pay, but if you want people to be welcome all the time, get rid of the hassle of using change in a world that revolves around plastic, and I don't condone the use of credit card reading meters. I won't use Greenville as an example because it only breeds anger. I think getting rid of meters would go a long way.
